What does a dragonfly nymph look like, and how do you catch a butterfly?

Take the family on a fun, exciting and educational expedition into one of Rømø’s orchards, in search of all manner of creepy-crawlies. With nets, magnifying glasses and other equipment, you’ll have the chance to explore life in the ‘forest’. We’ll investigate life beneath the surface of the forest lake, what’s fluttering in the air and what lives amongst the heather leaves. You’ll find a wealth of different insects and spiders, each with their own fascinating stories to tell. You’ll discover that many of our insects have life stages both on land and in water, how to tell the difference between a backswimmer and a water strider, and why a spider isn’t an insect.

Our guide is ready to help you handle and identify your finds, and to answer all your questions. So let your curiosity take over and unleash your inner “field biologist”, for there are countless hiding places in the forest where many surprises may be lurking.

The walk is intended for families with children, but all curious souls are welcome.
