Grab your torch and set off to explore locked-up bunkers
Would you like to experience local history in a way that the whole family can enjoy? On this walk, you’ll pass through Tvismark Plantage and visit bunkers from the Second World War. Along the way, the story is told in a way that children can understand, so they can follow along and ask questions. The tour combines nature, history and discovery in a peaceful and family-friendly way.
Why are there bunkers all over Rømø, and what do they look like inside?
When you’re out and about on Rømø, it’s hard not to spot some of the bunkers dotted around the island. But why are they actually there? What was it like to be a child on Rømø during the occupation? How did people dress 80 years ago?
You’ll find answers to these and many other questions if you join this tour, which is tailored for families with younger children. We’ll answer the questions that spring to mind as the children explore the bunkers for themselves.
We’ll make suitable stops along the way and go inside two of the island’s many bunkers.
