In the final years of the war, the strategically important and state-of-the-art radar station "Robbe Nord" was established in the northern part of Rømø. Today, the remains of the site are hidden among the trees – including bunkers for radar systems, searchlights, and anti-aircraft guns. Several of them still stand, and we give you access.
Some of the bunkers can be entered through a door – but one of them requires a bit more courage: you’ll have to crawl through a narrow ventilation pipe to get inside.
A Unique Glimpse into Rømø's Wartime History
The tour leads you along old trenches and hidden paths between the bunkers in Tvismark Plantation. Along the way, the guide shares stories about Rømø’s importance during World War II – especially the role of Robbe Nord as one of the war's most technologically advanced radar stations.
This is a tour filled with stories and physical traces – where history quite literally lies beneath your feet.
